Oleg Yegorovich Scherbatykh

Biography

Oleg Yegorovich Scherbatykh is a member of the International Federation of Artists of the professional-creative Union of Artists of Russia. He was born in 1967 in Bogoroditsk, Tula region. He graduated from an art school, and then he studied at Venetsianov Art College in Tver. After having completed the military service he attended composition and drawing courses at The Repin State Academy of Arts in Leningrad. His first art exhibition was arranged in 1990 in Tula. His early paintings are realistic by genre: mainly portraits and landscapes.

His passion for primitivism had an influence on his next creative period, 1991-1994. At this time his "lubok" style paintings with the image of various genre and Cossack life were on display at the exhibitions in Villach, Austria.

The studies of medieval painting masters, in particular the Flemish artists, resulted in creation of his own painting technique. The first series of works was exhibited in The Central House of Artists in Moscow at "F-Art". This exposition was followed by successful exhibitions in different galleries and expo-halls.

The creations by Oleg Scherbatykh can be formed in certain cycles unified by the common theme, integrity of the motives and images, colours decision. Such is the series called "Dreams", taken from the author's dreaming. Its rich colors and subjects conform to our notion about fairy-tale, kindness and a holiday of soul. Series "From the Life of Medieval Provincial People" relays the atmosphere of that time, habits, costumes, peculiarities of humor. In the series called "Landscapes of the Middle Ages" the artist chooses the unique colour gamut to achieve the required expressiveness.

The artist is young and is in constant creative search. However, today large Russian banks, the Embassies of USA and Slovakia, foreign representations in Russia, acquire his works. Many works by Oleg Scherbatykh can be found in art galleries and private collections in the USA, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France and other countries??
