Biography
Rumpelstiltskins is soft leather transformed into faces, characters, magical beings...changing names to protect the innocent. I use a technique I developed myself and one which has "elf"volved and hopefully will continue to...
I use what I can find around me and try to see things for what they aren't (this works well with art...not so well with people). I've used driftwood, wool, wire, burlap, fabric, goat's hair, straw, moss, old coats from the the famous maritime secondhand clothing chain Frenchy's, clay, marbles, (bring me yours if you lose them) and whatever else works.
I'm often asked what I call them. "They" become offended by not being asked directly, which puts me in an awkward position. (Ask them). Their names are attached to them if you're shy...
They can't hang in your garden (but wouldn't that be nice?)...most enjoy conversation and company. Keep them out of sunlight and read to them at night. Introduce them to your friends and most of all...have fun...despite yours"elf"...
