Biography

I began drawing at an early age when my grandfather taught me. I studied with Rex Hall at Southeast High School in Wichita, Kansas in 1960. Mr. Hall really inspired me. I went on to study with Amelio Amero and Eugene Basinger at Oklahoma University.

I transferred to north Texas State University, where I studied painting with Wilfred Higgins in 1963. In 1965, I moved to Los Angeles and studied with Kent Bash in the early seventies. In the 80's I studied portrait painting with Steve Gray, and billboard painter Doug Bloodworth.

In 1986 I attended the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. While there I had exhibitions in Mama Mia's Restaurant and the Galleria Atenea. I studied animation with Don Duga at The School for the Visual Arts in New York City, in 1990. I created a six minute animated film entitled the "Guitarist." I did all of the background and cell painting/animation work and played the drums on the accompanying soundtrack. The film is now in perpetuity with network station WNET/PBS channel 13 in N.Y.C.

In 1999, I did a magazine cover for the fall issue of The Times magazine in Lafayette, LA. I am current residing in San Antonio, Texas. Here I have exhibitions of my work at the Alamo Street Market, Caf? Espuma, and Casa Bohemia.
