Biography
Richard has worked in watercolors for 20 years. He t aught art classes in public schools in New Waterford School System and Breton Education Centre for nine years. As well he taught fine arts with the Summer School of the Arts at L'Universite de Ste. Anne, Church Point, Nova Scotia. He facilitated adult classes for Adult Education Program in Sydney and New Waterford. He has receive numerous private commissions resulting in work to be found in various parts of Canada, the United States and Iceland.
Professional Experience
- Work has been exhibited at the NS College of Art and Design student exhibition: Dalhousie University, Halifax; Gardner's Gallery, Sydney; The Gatehouse Gallery,
- Owner/Operator of Brush Work Studio.
- Commission work completed for ten years for the retiring teachers of the Cape Breton District School Board.
- Designed logos for Cape Breton District School Board, Atlantic Liturgical Congress 1985, and numerous school related designs.
- Served on Task Force for NS Department of Education, relating to Fine Arts in the Public School System.
- Juried a number of student art exhibitions for the Sydney School System.

- Current member of V.A.N.S.
- Past member of Art Teachers Association of Nova Scotia.
- Founding President of the Cape Breton Artist Association.
Education
- Graduated from N.S.C.A.D., Halifax, with a Diploma in Commercial Art and Design, 1968.
- Graduated from N.S.C.A.D., Halifax, with a Diploma in Art Education, 1969.
- Courses from U.C.C.B. and Mt. St. Vincent University to raise teaching license.
