Mindy Moore

Biography

Mindy Moore's work in clay has always been sculptural; she primarily is a handbuilder. Stoneware and porcelain are her clays of choice because of their strength and plasticity when soft, and their hardness when fired.
Always with an inclination toward functional pieces, the past 20 years have been a continuous exploration. Form, texture, and the space around and within the form have been the thread of contuous focus. With a sense of spontaneity, she approaches each slab of clay as a young child approaches the world, with eyes open without pre-conception of what lies ahead. Clay is such a wonderful, luscious, malleable, strong substance. Its essence is the essence of her exploration.
