Biography
Gail Sutherland is originally from Montreal and moved to Cape Breton in the spring of 1990. She obtained her fine arts degree at John Abbott College, then completed her BFA at Concordia University, specializing in graphic design.
While working as a graphic designer she continued to pursue her love of art, taking courses at the Saidye Bronfman Centre, McGill University, and studying with various watercolour artists.
"I have chosen the medium watercolour for most of my work because of its luminosity, transparency and unpredictability. I have always been fascinated with nature, movement, transparency, reflected color, form, light, internal and external energy and try to incorporate these elements into my work."
Gail's paintings are featured at local venues and galleries throughout the province (Nova Scotia), or for private viewing she can reached at her studio in Sydney.
