Biography

Artist Statement:

The four pieces exhibited under the title "Dog of Decisions" are a departure from my work based on natural subjects and created entirely through machine emvroidery. Over the past year, I have been rediscovering drawing on paper with graphite and oil crayons, producing larger pieces that are more gestural, instinctive and less openly narrative in content. With these four textile pieces, the mark making developed on paper is carried over, imitated by hand embroidery stitches placed into and beside the machine stitching. The narrative structure returns through the use of a single element, the dog.

"Dog of Decisions" is part of a growing body of work I fondly call "Time to Let the Dogs Out" that examines the distinction between the public and private persona.
